Are you headed to Page in Arizona and looking for a great way to spend one day? Then you are in the right spot! We have just had the most amazing day on Page and I need to share all my knowledge with you! It can be super hard to choose your activities – since there is so much to do! This post will give you a great overview of a fun-filled and instagrammable day in Page Arizona – including highlights such as Antelope Canyon Horseshoe Bend and Lake Powell! Lets get to it! One Day in Page Itinerary: at a Glance If you are just here to quickly snatch the itinerary for Page without any further explanation here you go! Further below in this post Ill share all of my insider tips and some helpful information on how to get around Page so Id love it if you stuck around! Lastly you wont find the Wave on this itinerary because it is so hard to get a permit. If you do have a permit make sure to leave enough time for that. Here is my itinerary for Page Arizona: 🏜️ Breakfast at Canyon Crepes Cafe or Hot n Sweet Donut Shop 🏜️ Iconic Shell Gas Station 🏜️ Upper or Lower Antelope Canyon 🏜️ Lunch at El Tapatio 🏜️ Lake Powell Horseshoe Bend Glen Canyon Dam (visit either for sunset) 🏜️ Dinner at Gone West Family Restaurant 1. Iconic Shell Gas Station Over the last couple of years a small Shell gas station in Page Arizona has become quite famous on Instagram. But it is not the gas station itself that is so special rather it is a small canyon/cave right behind it. If you park in the parking lot next to the gas station youll find a trail that will lead you to a half-open cave of orange sandstone. It might not be as cool as Antelope Canyon but you can visit it without a guide and take pictures and videos. 2. Antelope Canyon Antelope Canyon is probably going to be the highlight of your trip to Page. This is one of the most famous and most photographed slot canyons in the world. First of all you have to book a tour to visit Antelope Canyon since it is on Native Land. Secondly you need to decide if you want to visit Lower or Upper Antelope Canyon. Personally we usually go with Lower Antelope Canyon because it is almost as beautiful but a lot cheaper. Upper Antelope Canyon is the only one where you can see light beams so definitely consider that when booking your tour. Lower Antelope Canyon The Lower Antelope Canyon is one of the most stunning places in Page. The narrow slot canyon is super beautiful – the orange sandstone formations are so Instagrammable! As I mentioned before you need to book a Navajo tour guide to visit the canyon. The passageways are narrower and involve more ladders compared to its neighbor Upper Antelope Canyon. While the tours are pricey we really enjoyed the experience. The guide knows the best photo spots and has a lot of knowledge to share as well. Plan about 15 hours for this tour! Book now: Lower Antelope Canyon Tour With Navajo Guide Upper Antelope Canyon The Upper Antelope Canyon is slightly more famous and popular than the Lower Antelope Canyon. It is narrower and because of its A-shape it can let in some famous light beams from time to time. Visiting Upper Antelope Canyon is more expensive also because the tour operators have to bring you there in a Jeep. If you visit Upper Antelope Canyon make sure to book a tour in the morning before noon since it is the only time when the light beams appear. Book now: Upper Antelope Canyon with Navajo Guide 3. Glen Canyon Dam The Glen Canyon Dam is an impressive engineering marvel on the Colorado River. It is one of the most underrated spots to visit on a day in Page. It was built in the 1960s and stands 710 feet tall. Most importantly it holds back Lake Powell and the Colorado River. You can walk over the dam on both sides and enjoy some stunning views. The canyon is so deep it is simply breathtaking. Plan about half an hour for a visit to the Glen Canyon Dam. Of course you can also visit with a tour. 4. Horseshoe Bend Horseshoe Bend is a super stunning natural viewpoint near Page. You can see the Colorado River making a dramatic 270-degree turn which creates a horseshoe-shaped curve. You can stand super close without fences at sheer red rock cliffs dropping 1000 feet down to the river. It is a short hike to the viewpoint and its especially famous during sunset. Then the colors of the rocks and water come alive. You have to pay a small entrance fee for your vehicle but it is well worth it. This spot was one of my favorites during our day in Page. 5. Lake Powell Recreation Area Either before or after Horseshoe Bend head to one of the recreation spots near Lake Powell. Alternatively you can also drive up to the Wahweap Viewpoint for sunset. What makes Lake Powell so special is that it has super clear blue water which is broken up by bright orange cliffs from time to time. Lake Powell is huge and there are lots of viewpoints picnic places and beaches around the lake. 6. Bonus: Hike the Wave I did not put the famous Wave near Page on my itinerary on purpose. Only about 60 people get to hike the Wave every day and it is nearly impossible to get a permit. However if you are really intent on hiking the Wave make sure to apply for a permit early enough or show up there in the morning for the daily permit lottery. The Wave is extremely beautiful and it is worth the hassle if you have more time in Page AZ. Is One Day Enough in Page AZ? Yes one day is enough to see the highlights of Page Arizona. Since all of the most famous landmarks are super close together you can see one of the Antelope Canyons Horseshoe Bend and Lake Powell in a day. I would recommend staying at least one night in Page if you are planning on doing some hiking in the area or exploring the Vermillion Cliffs or the other side of Lake Powell. If you want to see both Lower and Upper Antelope Canyon or try to hike the Wave (very limited capacities) youll likely need two days in Page. Conclusion: 1 Day in Page AZ What a day of adventure and Instagrammable places in Page Arizona! Page has some of the best sights that the American Southwest has to offer. In this one-day itinerary we covered all the best attractions including the famous Antelope Canyon tour the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area and the Wahweap Marina. The Glen Canyon Dam Overlook will make you feel like visiting the Hoover Dam while the iconic Horseshoe Bend reminds you of the Grand Canyon North Rim. Are you looking for the best hikes in Moab Utah? Then you are in the right spot! Moab has an incredible amount of hiking trails and all of them are quite special! When you only have a few days in town it can be super hard to pick the best ones that are worth your time and effort. Many of the trails in Moab are pretty similar so it is importat to find a good mix so you can experience the best of the area. Luckily for you I have just returned from my trip to Moab and we checked out many trails famous and off-the beaten paths. In this post Ill discuss with you my 6 favorite hikes in Moab and add some helpful tips and insights so you can have an amazing experience! Lets get to it! Best Hikes in Moab: Overview If you are just here for a quick overview without any added details find all my favorite hikes in this table. Not sure how to spend your time in Moab? Keep on reading: Amazing 5 Days in Moab Itinerary: Instagrammable and Fun Hike Length (Roundtrip) Difficulty Duration Highlights Corona Arch Trail 3 miles Easy–Moderate 1.5–2 hrs Giant arch railroad ladder wide desert views Mill Creek Trail 4 miles (varies) Easy–Moderate 2–3 hrs Waterfall swimming holes red rock canyon Devils Garden Trail Up to 7.8 miles Moderate–Hard 3–5 hrs Landscape Arch spires fins 7+ arches total Shafer Trail 18 miles (driving/hiking combo) Moderate Half-day+ Epic switchbacks canyon views 4×4 optional Grandstaff Canyon Trail 4.3 miles Moderate 2–3 hrs Gorgeous canyon hike to Morning Glory Arch Rim Trail (Dead Horse Point) 1 mile loop (several options) Easy 1 hour Overlooks of the Colorado River sunset spot family-friendly 1. Corona Arch Trail Trailhead: Google Maps The Corona Arch Trail is my favorite hiking trail in Moab. You get to see this really cool arch at the end of the hike and since it is outside of the National Park it is usually never busy. I prefer it over Arches National Park! Youll have some stunning views of the desert valley and the Corona Arch is beautifully embedded in the landscape. The hike is moderate youll have to climb up a ladder set in the red rocks to reach the arch. As an added bonus you can see the Pinto Arch and the Bowtie Arch as well since they all share the same trailhead. 2. Mill Creek Waterfall Trail Trailhead: Google Maps The Mill Creek Waterfall Trail is a bit of a hidden gem in Moab. It is beloved by locals and it will give you an entirely different experience than all of the other trails. Youll hike alongside (and sometimes cross) a beautiful small stream through a lush valley. No boring desert landscapes in sight! There is virtually no elevation gain so it is an easy hike. Youll reach the beautiful Mill Creek Waterfall pretty soon after the trailhead but you can continue on the trail if you like to make it more of an adventure. 3. Devils Garden Trail Trailhead: Google Maps As I mentioned before Arches National Park is not my favorite place to hike because of all the crowds. Especially the easier and more famous trails like the Delicate Arch Trail or the Fiery Furnace are super busy. Devils Garden Trail is one of the less busy hikes because it is pretty long and moderately difficult at times. Youll pass by the fantastic Landscape Arch which is great for Instagram pictures. 4. Shafer Trail Trailhead: Google Maps Shafer Trail is not your usual hike it is a bit of a mix between scenic drive and trail. Shafer Trail is a scenic back road located in the Canyonlands National Park. It is a lesser-known alternative to the Mesa Arch trail in the park. It winds down steep switchbacks carved into the cliffs which look so pretty. You can drive it with a 4×4 but many people also hike parts of the trail. Youll have some incredible views over the desert landscape which makes the hike well worth it. 5. Grandstaff Canyon Trail Trailhead: Google Maps The Grandstaff Canyon Trail is absolutely one of the best hikes in Moab. It follows a small stream and will lead you to the stunning Morning Glory Arch. It is one of the most underrated arches in the area. The arch itself is super spectacular but I honestly just enjoyed the trail because it was such a contrast to the dry desert landscape that you see all around in Moab. We took all morning to complete the hike with lots of breaks enjoying the cold water of the small creek! 6. Rim Loop Trail (Dead Horse Point) Location: Trailhead The Rim Trail at Dead Horse Point State Park is an easy and super scenic hike. I really enjoy the park because of its elevation over the desert. It follows the edge of the mesa for a mile (round trip) and you have nonstop views of deep canyons and the Colorado River below. Youll pass a few nice lookout points that are perfect for photos especially at sunset. Its mostly flat and great for all skill levels which definitely makes it one of the best family-friendly hikes in Moab. What Is The Hardest Trail in Moab? One of the (in my opinion) hardest trails in Moab is the Fiery Furnace. It is inside Arches National Park. Its not hard because of steep climbs or long distances. Its tough because its a maze of sandstone canyons tight passages and dead ends. You need a special permit or go with a ranger-led tour. Otherwise its super easy to get lost without a map or GPS. What To Wear For Hiking in Moab? Moab is super hot and dry (for most of the year) so Id definitely keep my hiking outfits simple. As for myself a UV-protective shirt and shorts always did the trick. And of course a cap was super useful. My wife usually wore shorts and a sporty tank top on our hikes. Here are a couple of tips to keep in mind when dressing for a hike in Moab: ☀️ Breathable Shirts: Make sure to wear something lightweight otherwise youll sweat to death in the Moab heat ☀️ Hiking shorts: Lightweight and flexible are best. Shorts are great in spring/summer but pants help with the brush and sun. ☀️ Hiking boots: Good grip is a must there are a lot of slickrock and difficult climbs on Moabs trails ☀️ Sun protection: Always wear a cap or a hat otherwise youll be too exposed to the desert sun Conclusion: Best Hikes in Moab In this post we checked out my favorite 6 hiking trails in Moab. All of these are beautiful trails each with a different vibe and difficulty to it. Youll get to see petroglyphs wander along slickrock and see beautiful red rock formations. Well skip the overcrowded Double Arch and the Sky District (Mesa Arch) and head straight for hidden gems like the Corona Arch or the Mill Creek Waterfall. This is definitely the best of Moab hiking and you dont need a permit for any one of these. Make sure to pack snacks and maybe even head out around sunrise already for a great vibe. Devils Bridge Devils Bridge is one of the most stunning natural arches in Arizona and it needed to be on my list of Instagrammable places. It is kinda popular but people are nice about sharing the space for photo ops in my experience. 8. West Fork Trail West Fork Trail in Sedona is a magical escape from the desert environment. It still has some towering red cliffs but it also has a peaceful creek and lush forests. It is perfect for a dreamy Instagram shot. Secret tip: visit in the fall when the golden leaves create a fairytale-like backdrop for your photos! 9. Tlaquepaque Village Tlaquepaque Village is one of the coolest places in Sedona. 8 miles Moderate–Hard 3–5 hrs Landscape Arch spires fins 7+ arches total Shafer Trail 18 miles (driving/hiking combo) Moderate Half-day+ Epic switchbacks canyon views 4×4 optional Grandstaff Canyon Trail 4.
3 miles Moderate 2–3 hrs Gorgeous canyon hike to Morning Glory Arch Rim Trail (Dead Horse Point) 1 mile loop (several options) Easy 1 hour Overlooks of the Colorado River sunset spot family-friendly 1.
